About

My name is Denny Britz. I was born in Germany and moved to the California at the age of 18. I was more of less forced to leave after being kicked out of German high school 5 times. In retrospect I’m pretty happy that happened :)

My background is in Computer Science, which I studied at UC Berkeley and Stanford University (never finished that one, still on a leave of absence). I started out in databases, moved to Distributed Systems and “Big Data” and then to Machine Learning. I helped build popular open source software like Spark or DeepDive. Technologies I’m currently excited about include Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing and Container Technologies.  I’m also a full stack engineer and I enjoy designing and developing products from the ground up. I’ve helped a few startups to do that.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, writing, reading business books, learning (natural) languages, and trying out new technologies. I’ve spent a lot of time in Asia. I lived in Japan and Thailand for about 2 years each and loved it. My current goal is to learn Korean and live in Korea for a while. I’m also interested in healthy nutrition and I’m following a Keto diet.

If you made it to this page I’d be happy to hear from you. If there’s anything I can help with please let me know. The best way to get in touch is via email (dennybritz [at] gmail), Linkedin, or Twitter.

Recently I started WildML, a blog about Machine Learning.
